Sub-par Performance Yields Mediocre Result

After having performed very well against Surdel in their previous meetings, A.C. was expecting Surdel to bounce back with a strong game in league play.

Right from the opening whistle Surdel looked far more interested in earning a result than Guildford did. The A.C. girls were slow to the ball and were physically outmatched by the Storm squad that, quite simply, seemed hungrier for the ball. A.C. was back on their heels for most of the first half, however, the Guildford girls gave up very few scoring chances as they were quite tidy around their own goal and kept Surdel around the perimeter. A.C. did mount a couple of scoring opportunities against the flow of play but nothing materialized on the scoreboard. 0-0 at the half.

In the second half, Guildford continued their unwillingness dictate the play and Surdel was able to continue to keep A.C. penned back in their own end. Much like the first half, despite all the pressure, the Storm really had very few quality scoring chances and A.C. got the odd opportunity against the momentum; neither team was able to bury anything and break the deadlock. Final score 0-0.

Guildford was fortunate to earn the single point but will certainly need a much improved effort if they plan to continue to take up residence among the top in the standings. Next week's matchup is at home against Langley Extreme who sit mid-table in the standings.
