A.C. Struggles in Earning A Result

After coming off a lack-luster effort the week previous, Guildford A.C. was looking to rebound with a better effort against Langley Extreme. A.C. would have a little steeper hill to climb as three team members were out ill/injured and another teammate was not playing at 100%.

In the opening minutes, Langley mounted a bit of a push but didn't build any dangerous scoring chances. Guildford was better than the week previous, but still lacked the full commitment to tackles and winning the ball. As the first half wore on, Guildford started to emerge as the more dominant squad however, the Extreme's stingy defensive tactics and Guildford's disorganized attack led to a rather boring and uneventful stretch of play.

In the second half, Langley dropped into a completely defensive posture. A.C. was able to press a bit more and tried to mount an offensive presence in the game with mediocre success. Guildford got more chances but simply couldn't find the net on some scrambles in front. Langley did get one excellent scoring chance but were thwarted by a spectacular diving save from the Guildford keeper. As the game clock ticked into injury time, A.C. finally broke the deadlock on a well placed shot low to the post. Guildford was able to run out the remaining time and emerge with a 1-0 win.

Guildford's next match-up is against the Dunbar Maniacs. In their previous meeting, A.C. was victorious over the Maniacs in a substandard performance. Guildford is looking to re-focus this week and put out a performance more reflective of their personal standards and expectations.
