Guildford looked more than ready to take on Abbotsford in the pouring rain; it was their first game on Guildford's new home turf at Hjorth Road Park. For the second week in a row A.C. tallied inside the first minute of play to open a lead. Some nice passing built up an opportunity for A.C.'s hole player to slip into space and a well played ball was collected and promtly delivered into the back of the Mariners' goal for a 1-0 lead.

Despite A.C.'s solid stretches of posession, Abbotsford combatted well, stifling chances and making big saves to keep the game close. Guildford found a way to break the Mariners for a second time; a striker was sprung free on a half break and managed to dribble the keeper and slot it home for a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Abbotsford, despite the deficit, fought valiantly and was able to limit Guildford's offence even further. The Mariners' steadfast defending combined with some tragic A.C. finishing kept the scorline at 2-0 until late in the second half. On a corner, Guildford setup well and fed the initial ball back out wide for a better delivery and the ensuing cross was nodded home for a 3-0 lead.

Late in the game Guildford poured on pressure but simply couldn't add to their lead. Final score 3-0. The shutout takes Guildford's streak to 8 games totalling seven weeks of goal-less soccer. A.C. last surrendered a goal vs. the Lynn Valley Falcons on October 12th.

Guildford takes on the Aldergrove Roadrunners next week in their final league game before the holiday break.
