Guildford A.C. opened their season with a bit of a 'Jekyll and Hyde' game. In the early going A.C. looked very confident moving the ball well. Guildford got on the scoreboard early on corner that was well delivered and finished for the tally. Shortly after Surrey United caught A.C. on a bit of a foul up where the defenseman and keeper miscommunicated which resulted in a colision and an easy tap in for United.

Guildford seemed to lose all sense of rhythm and purpose after that and struggled to maintain composure. The United 97's would capitalize on this stretch of poor play; Surrey's striker was able to slip through the back line forcing the A.C. defense to take a foul in the box and the resulting PK was converted for a 2-1 lead. Guildford struggled for the remainder of the half to manufacture any kind of productive play and went into the half down a goal.

On the other side of the break a completely different team surfaced. Guildford was able to calm down and control the play stringing passes together and quickly found the tying goal. A.C. would add two more in quick succession for the 4-2 lead and never looked back.

In the latter stages of the game Surrey United would find another goal but never threatened the final result as Guildford continued to score as well. Final score 6-3.

Despite some poor play, A.C. also had stretches of very good soccer in the second half and earned their first three points in the standings. A.C. will take on the strong SFC Red Devils next week.
