Week three's matchup was a tilt between two, as yet, undefeated teams. Guildford appeared to be off to good start but consistently seemed to lack time on the ball. SFC aggressively pressured all over the field in the early parts of the match and A.C. looked unprepared to find another level to their game. The Scorpions would strike first as Guildford simply got outpaced at the back and SFC finished well to go up 1-0. Shortly after SFC would stike again to open up a two goal lead.
Guildford, while they did not look demoralized with the deficit, struggled find each other and connect together any kind of cohesive play.
In the second half, A.C. relaxed a bit and was able to stretch the field giving them more time on the ball but was still being out-hustled. Guildford was able to build forward with a bit more success but had trouble creating anything truly dangerous. A.C. finally caught a bit of fortune from doing the right things when a cross was deflected off a Scropions player and into the goal to cut the lead in half.
Guildford pressed hard from that point on but the bit of individual skill to create something, that had been consistently coming from one player or another all through the early season, had collectively dried up. A.C. fought well for the equalizer but came up short. Final score 2-1 SFC Scorpions.
A.C. has a bye week coming up, then is looking to make amends in week 5 against Langley United.
