Guildford A.C. was heading into week two after a strong performance the week previous, however, this week they were matched up against the only team against whom they'd surrendered a loss, Coquitlam Metro Ford Chargers. The Chargers were also victorious in week one.
As in their last meeting, CMF opened the scoring very early, getting on the scoreboard inside five minutes. A.C. responded very well getting the equalizer shortly after to draw even at one. A.C. was much more successful in this match-up at breaking down the Chargers very solid and well organized back line. The Guildford girls built forward with success and were able to mount several scoring chances before finally getting the go ahead goal at the 25 minute mark. Taking a 2-1 lead into the half.
In the second half, Guildford pressed early on and were nearly able to stretch their lead to two, but missed some good opportunities and were left nursing a slim one goal lead. Midway through the half, Coquitlam really began to press forward and pushed A.C. back on their heels. Guildford was forced to adjust formation in order to get control of the midfield; A.C. subsequently weathered the storm and were able to prevent any quality scoring chances by the Charges in the late going. Final score 2-1 A.C..
The next league game has A.C. taking on the undefeated Golden Ears Inferno at home.
